My Fashion Books: A Collection

“The best fashion accessory is a book.”

Vivienne Westwood

And if Queen Viv says so, it must be true! But let’s be honest, there is no better way to pass the time at home (and especially during a quarantine) than with a nice cup of tea or coffee and a good book!

Even though I love submerging myself in fantasy worlds and mystery novels, I’ve found myself leaning towards educational books as of late. As I have mentioned before, last year I decided to get into the fashion world that I have admired from afar for so many years and start making it a part of my reality. I consider myself a newbie in this area, so I’m always thrilled and eager to learn, read and see as much as I can. Apart from taking as many courses as my pocket, time, and now the coronavirus allows me to, I seemed to have compiled a small collection of Fashion related books. These are an incredible source of knowledge, even if the majority of them are not the latest editions, and are giving me loads of inspiration for future projects and ideas to work on.

Most of these books have been bought second hand, a thing that I consider great for my wallet as well as the planet, with the exception of a couple of them, though even then many have been heavily discounted. Fashion books, like any serious book that specializes in a particular niche, are terrifyingly expensive!!! That is why, if you are planning on getting one (or several, like me), check places like eBay, Abebooks or Amazon where you can get them used, or you may find kindle versions cheaper for less image heavy books. If you want to buy new however,  you could also use Bookdepository or Wordery as they usually have great deals, and free shipping internationally.

That said, I must confess that books, at least for me, are an investment and something you can always refer to no matter where or when. They are an escape as well as a great teacher. I have a huge Wishlist of books that I want to get and Indi and I often joke at how many times I change my mind about our coffee table books (a little secret? It’s often between a giant Dior book and ‘Where’s Karl? A Fashion Forward Parody’…or both! Indi says both and a few more, plus some photography ones for her!). Later, I am planning on making another blog post telling you about some of my favourite ones and, if you are interested, maybe make a review. Let me know!

Also, I will leave this link of a blog post from an Argentinian blogger/writer who has created a list of free fashion books that you should definitely check out! I hope you are all safe and staying home as much as possible! Take care of your loved ones and yourself, and take time to relax.

Xoxo,
